Penn 550 Spinfisher Spinning Reel

Vintage, Penn 550 SS Spin fisher spinning reel. No longer made, this one was made in U. This reel was fully disassembled, cleaned thoroughly, and re-lubed with Penn blue grease and Cals drag grease for the drag stack.

Line capacity for mono is 15lb / 250 yds, 12lb / 200yds, 10lb / 325yds. The gear ratio is 5.1: 1, high speed. Braid diameter is smaller so you could put more braid than mono. That being said, the reel has been stored in an heated area for the last few years and is really nice and fully functional. There are a few cosmetic skuffs here and there on it, but it was not used much.

The spool is flawless, new condition, drag knob is solid, no cracks. The labels on the spool are new condition as well as all decals, they are crisp looking and flawless. None of the hardware is stripped out or corroded, all nice and functional. The reel is a very nice piece with no mechanical issues, spins freely when you let go of the handle. I consider my time to pull apart and clean and service reel at 20.00, which is part of the cost.

A lot of people don't do that. The handle can be installed on either side, depending if your left or righty. All springs, bearing, and main and pinion gears are nice and smooth retrieving when reeling. Bail snaps like it should. Spool shaft is straight and no rub marks on the rotor or spool.

This reel could be a collector piece or fish it, just needs a new home and line. Anti reverse works well, spins equally both ways. Everything works l on this reel and is nice displayed as well.
