Penn Sea Hawk Saltwater Conventional Reel Pre-WWII Nice, Clean Tail Plate Scene. Offered is a sweet 150 yard Penn SeaHawk conventional reel from the second half of the 1930s. The reel is in clean and very good condition overall.
There are a couple of small nicks on the rim of the hard rubber, and there is some saltwater corrosion on the four chrome-plated pillars and reel foot (please see photos). The spool is smooth, but lubrication will be needed for fully functional, smooth operation (there is no oil or grease in the gears or handle). Oil and grease fittings/ports look good.
The handle knob on this reel is beautifully mottled with a light knurling along the edge. This is a well-maintained reel with honest use, suitable for more time on the water or displayed with pride in a collection. Patented lever free spool clutch. Double multiplying spiral gears and stainless steel spring. Exclusive (at the time) oiling and greasing system with waterproof lubricating nipples.
