Vintage Ocean City 6061 big game 6/0 conventional Reel (near mint)

Ocean City True Temper 6061 big game reel. This 6/0 size reel was made in The USA from 1950 to I believe the mid 70s and is in near mint condition. The the chrome & plates shows only some very lite marks from age, I don't think this reel was ever used. It has a 2.5/1 gear ratio and will hold about 500 yds.

Test and is a grade 9+/10. It weighs 3.5 lbs.. And was designed for saltwater big game fishing. It is a good quality reel and has a solid metal spool and black bakelite side plates and a cream colored handle knob.

This is one of the later big game reels from O. & also has the True Temper name on it. In 1958 and put both names on there reels for about ten years, towards the end they only used the T.

It has the type of drag that is serviceble from the outside by sliding out the cylinder behind the handle. The metal washers in these later reels were solid stainless and are compatible with Penn HT-100 washers if you should ever wear out the originals.

These reels are stronger and heavier than Penn 6/0s, I still fish them today and have caught fish well over 300 lbs. With them fishing with 50lb.

Test from shore in the Florida Keys! The reels I sell are 98% used, and in between 20 & 100 years old. Most are far from perfect, so I some times use the Orca grading system, the first no.
