But if you are a collector, you already knew that. This reel is one of the relatively early models. It is a post WWII, small oil port on the handle, seven o'clock reel in OK shape. Functionally works fine and has all the correct parts for mounting on a pole. The two plates are very clean considering it was used.
The edge rims on the plates are intact, no cracks. There are plenty of small scratches and a fair amount of pitting towards the outside of the spool, both sides.
I tried to take as close a picture as my camera lens would allow to show the condition. It has been a while since I stopped collecting these Penn reels so dating it is a guess.Most likely it was made some time in the 1950's or early 60's. I could add a catalog for whatever year I choose, but that's not my style. Take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself. By the way, it weighs between 11 and 12 pounds without line.
