These reels are truly immortal! Penn 706/706z are probably some of the most successful models ever made. Penn has been producing them since the 1960s! Same design, same mechanism, same parts.I have been using them on the surf forever and reeled in tons of fish with them, from stripers and bluefish, to sting rays, sand sharks, etc. Over the years, I have gathered way too many Penn 706 models and I will be putting up a couple for sale. This particular one is several years old but still works fine and will do so for the rest of your life! All functions work, anti-reverse is flawless, and retrieve is with that mesmerizing zzzz sound which I really love! If you dont like it, you just stuff the reel with grease and the sound goes awaythis way you may also dunk the reel like the Van Staals!
You never need to take these reels to tackle-shops and wait ten-fifteen days to get them back. They are built with a simple mechanism for easy do-it-yourself maintenance with easy-to-find cheap parts. I probably changed the main gear once or twice over the years or the dog spring, etc. See photos for cosmetic condition, missing medallion, and paint loss. I didnt even specifically clean or oil the reel to make photos look more shiny.
Nope, what you see is what you get! It comes spooled with 30lb Spiderwire Ultracast Invisibraid and ready to fish. Take a look at the photos: what you see is what you get!
