Vintage Penn Silver Beach 97 Reel Collectible First Version Model

The Silver Beach 97 was produced from 1938 to 1941. It was later introduced as the model 99 in 1949.

The external and internal parts were made of nickel silver with the external parts having chrome plating. This was one of the first Penn reels with an engraved tail-plate.

This particular reel was probably made in the later days of production because it has the hershey's kiss style clicker button instead of the waffle type, and the knob is an old design pointed football shaped knob instead of the wood. It comes with a period correct, no part number reel clamp.

This reel spins free, strong clicker, smooth drag, knob spins free. This reel looks great with only very minor pitting primarily on top of the foot. Please look at the pictures provided and ask if you need more.
